The analysis summarizes changes in Indonesia's age structure, old-age dependency and the size of the population aged 65 and above.
People aged 65 and above represented 7.3% of the population of Indonesia in 2024. The population aged 0 to 14 accounted for 24.2%, while those aged 15 to 64 represented 68.1%. The old-age dependency ratio was 11.1 older people per 100 working-age people, compared with a youth dependency ratio of 35.5. The older population share changed by +0.8 percentage points over five years and by +1.2 percentage points over ten years.
