The neonatal mortality rate in Afghanistan was 33.1 deaths per 1,000 live births in 2024. Infant mortality was 48.3 per 1,000 live births, and under-five mortality was 53.0. Over five years, neonatal mortality changed by -11.5% and infant mortality by -14.7% and under-five mortality by -15.5%.
