Jamaica Trademark Applications: Resident and Nonresident Filings

The report examines the volume and composition of trademark filings in Jamaica by applicant residence.

Resident trademark applications in Jamaica reached 2,576 in 2021, compared with 4,219 nonresident applications. The resident-to-nonresident filing ratio was 0.61. Trademark activity was equivalent to 2395.1 applications per 1 million people and 308.66 applications per US$1 billion of GDP. The country registered 5,393 new businesses in 2024, corresponding to 1.26 trademark applications per newly registered business.

Based on comparable data for 2021, Jamaica ranked 87th of 155 economies by the resident share of trademark filings.
