The report examines the transition between fixed and mobile telecommunications in Ecuador.
The telecommunications subscription structure of Ecuador in 2024 comprised 93.8% mobile cellular subscriptions and 6.2% fixed telephone subscriptions. Mobile penetration exceeded fixed-line penetration by 94.9 subscriptions per 100 people. Mobile subscriptions first exceeded fixed subscriptions in 2002. Fixed broadband penetration was 17.2 subscriptions per 100 people in 2024.
Based on comparable data for 2024, Ecuador ranked 127th of 213 economies by fixed telephone penetration and 137th of 214 by mobile penetration.
