Costa Rica Fixed and Mobile Telecommunications: Subscription Levels and Structural Change

The analysis summarizes changes in Costa Rica's fixed-line and mobile subscription levels across annual and longer periods.

Mobile cellular subscriptions in Costa Rica totaled 6,977,935 in 2024, equivalent to 136.0 subscriptions per 100 people. Fixed telephone subscriptions totaled 610,457, or 11.9 per 100 people. The mobile-to-fixed subscription ratio was 11.4. Over five years, mobile penetration changed by -5.9 subscriptions per 100 people, while fixed telephone penetration changed by -7.1.

In the common comparison year 2024, Costa Rica ranked 47th of 214 economies by mobile cellular subscriptions per 100 people.
