The report examines domestic government, domestic private and out-of-pocket health financing in Timor-Leste.
The health financing structure of Timor-Leste in 2023 comprised 77.7% from domestic general government sources, 7.0% from domestic private sources and 15.3% from external sources. Out-of-pocket payments represented 100.0% of domestic private health expenditure. Current health expenditure was 9.6% of GDP, or $144 per capita in current US dollars.
In the common comparison year 2023, Timor-Leste ranked 26th of 193 economies by the government share of current health expenditure.
