The age structure of United Kingdom in 2024 comprised 17.0% of the population aged 0 to 14, 63.3% aged 15 to 64 and 19.5% aged 65 and above. The aging index was 114.9 people aged 65 and above per 100 people aged 0 to 14, while the potential support ratio was 3.2 working-age people per person aged 65 or above.
The number of people aged 65 and above reached 13,690,810 in 2025, changing by +10.3% over five years. In the common comparison year 2024, United Kingdom ranked 38th of 217 economies by the share of the population aged 65 and above.
