Ukraine Electricity Generation Mix: Nuclear, Renewable and Fossil Power

Review the structure of Ukraine's electricity production through annual source shares and long-term changes in the power mix.

Electricity generation in Ukraine was divided among nuclear power (54.6%), coal (23.1%), natural gas (9.1%) in 2021. Renewable electricity accounted for 12.0% of total output, compared with 32.3% from fossil fuels and 54.6% from nuclear power.

In the common comparison year 2021, Ukraine ranked 140th of 209 economies by renewable electricity share. The country’s generation mix shifted most strongly toward nuclear power during the latest five-year period.
