This report examines the share and composition of renewable electricity in Russian Federation, including hydro and non-hydro generation.
Russian Federation’s renewable electricity mix was divided between hydropower, which represented 17.4% of total generation, and other renewable sources at 0.5% in 2021. Hydropower accounted for 90.9% of renewable electricity.
Non-hydro renewable electricity production reached 5,688,050,000 kWh in 2021, changing by +225.8% over five years. Based on comparable 2021 data, Russian Federation recorded the 120th-highest renewable electricity share among 209 economies. The non-hydro renewable share changed by +0.3 percentage points over the latest five-year period.
