Electricity generation in Norway was divided among hydropower (91.4%), other renewables (7.7%), oil (0.3%) in 2021. Renewable electricity accounted for 99.1% of total output, compared with 0.6% from fossil fuels and 0.0% from nuclear power.
In the common comparison year 2021, Norway ranked 6th of 209 economies by renewable electricity share. The country’s generation mix shifted most strongly toward other renewables during the latest five-year period.
