This report examines the share and composition of renewable electricity in Faroe Islands, including hydro and non-hydro generation.
Faroe Islands’s renewable electricity mix was divided between hydropower, which represented 23.7% of total generation, and other renewable sources at 14.4% in 2021. Hydropower accounted for 62.1% of renewable electricity.
Non-hydro renewable electricity production reached 61,100,000 kWh in 2021, changing by +17.0% over five years. Based on comparable 2021 data, Faroe Islands recorded the 80th-highest renewable electricity share among 209 economies. The non-hydro renewable share changed by -2.0 percentage points over the latest five-year period.
