Electricity generation in Argentina was divided among natural gas (55.2%), hydropower (16.5%), other renewables (9.1%) in 2021. Renewable electricity accounted for 25.5% of total output, compared with 65.0% from fossil fuels and 7.1% from nuclear power.
In the common comparison year 2021, Argentina ranked 97th of 209 economies by renewable electricity share. The country’s generation mix shifted most strongly toward other renewables during the latest five-year period.
