Algeria Electricity Generation Mix: Nuclear, Renewable and Fossil Power

Analyze Algeria's power mix to understand the roles of nuclear energy, renewables and fossil fuels in national generation.

The largest source of electricity generation in Algeria was natural gas, accounting for 99.0% of total output in 2021. The electricity mix also included other renewables at 0.9% and oil at 0.2%. Low-carbon sources represented 0.9% of generation, while fossil fuels accounted for 99.2%.

Over the latest five-year period, natural gas recorded the largest increase in the generation mix, rising by 0.8 percentage points. Oil recorded the largest decline, falling by 1.1 percentage points.
