The intellectual property filing profile of Paraguay in 2021 comprised 1.3% patents, 98.4% trademarks and 0.3% industrial designs. The patent-to-trademark application ratio was 0.01, while the industrial-design-to-patent ratio was 0.21. Research and development expenditure represented 0.14% of GDP in 2023.
In the common comparison year 2021, Paraguay ranked 45th of 120 economies by total included IP applications.
