New Zealand International Trade in Goods and Services: Exports, Imports and Composition

The report examines the composition of New Zealand's external trade by separating goods from services.

International trade in New Zealand comprised $47.21 billion in goods exports, $19.51 billion in service exports, $48.21 billion in goods imports and $20.28 billion in service imports in 2025. The service-to-goods export ratio was 41.3%, while the corresponding import ratio was 42.1%. Over five years, goods exports changed by +23.3% and service exports changed by +64.0%. The total balance on goods and services was -$1.77 billion.

Based on comparable data for 2025, New Zealand ranked 57th of 200 economies by goods exports and 53rd of 200 by service exports.
