The analysis summarizes annual and long-term changes in Brazil's patent applications and resident filing share.

Patent applications in Brazil totaled 24,232 in 2021. Resident applicants filed 4,666, while nonresident applicants filed 19,566. Resident applications represented 19.3% of total filings. Total patent applications changed by -13.5% over five years and by -15.4% over ten years.
