United Arab Emirates Electricity Generation Mix: Nuclear, Renewable and Fossil Power

Explore United Arab Emirates's electricity generation mix through data on nuclear, renewable, natural gas, coal, oil and hydropower.

The largest source of electricity generation in United Arab Emirates was natural gas, accounting for 86.6% of total output in 2021. The electricity mix also included nuclear power at 6.8% and other renewables at 4.2%. Low-carbon sources represented 11.0% of generation, while fossil fuels accounted for 89.0%.

Over the latest five-year period, nuclear power recorded the largest increase in the generation mix, rising by 6.8 percentage points. Natural gas recorded the largest decline, falling by 11.3 percentage points.
