This statistical profile documents government, private, household and external financing shares in Ukraine's health system.
The health financing structure of Ukraine in 2021 comprised 52.1% from domestic general government sources, 47.9% from domestic private sources and 0.7% from external sources. Out-of-pocket payments represented 94.6% of domestic private health expenditure. Current health expenditure was 8.2% of GDP, or $370 per capita in current US dollars.
In the common comparison year 2021, Ukraine ranked 106th of 193 economies by the government share of current health expenditure.

Domestic general government health expenditure, % of current health expenditure. The share of current health expenditure financed by domestic government sources (general and social health insurance).
Domestic private health expenditure, % of current health expenditure. The share of current health expenditure financed by domestic private sources, including households, private insurance and firms.
Out-of-pocket expenditure, % of current health expenditure. The share of current health expenditure paid directly by households at the point of service, a subset of domestic private expenditure.
External health expenditure, % of current health expenditure. The share of current health expenditure financed by external sources, such as foreign governments or international organizations.
