The report examines the volume and composition of trademark filings in Vanuatu by applicant residence.
Resident trademark applications in Vanuatu reached 11 in 2021, compared with 146 nonresident applications. The resident-to-nonresident filing ratio was 0.08. Trademark activity was equivalent to 468.4 applications per 1 million people and 140.43 applications per US$1 billion of GDP. The country registered 258 new businesses in 2018, corresponding to 0.61 trademark applications per newly registered business.
Based on comparable data for 2021, Vanuatu ranked 135th of 155 economies by the resident share of trademark filings.
