This article presents resident and nonresident patent applications in Sri Lanka.
Patent applications in Sri Lanka totaled 539 in 2021. Resident applicants filed 266, while nonresident applicants filed 273. Resident applications represented 49.4% of total filings. Total patent applications changed by -5.9% over five years and by +25.6% over ten years.
In the common comparison year 2021, Sri Lanka ranked 62nd of 155 economies by total patent applications.
