The report examines the transition between fixed and mobile telecommunications in Eritrea.
The telecommunications subscription structure of Eritrea in 2022 comprised 96.7% mobile cellular subscriptions and 3.3% fixed telephone subscriptions. Mobile penetration exceeded fixed-line penetration by 57.1 subscriptions per 100 people. Mobile subscriptions first exceeded fixed subscriptions in 2005. Fixed broadband penetration was 0.2 subscriptions per 100 people in 2022.
Based on comparable data for 2022, Eritrea ranked 156th of 213 economies by fixed telephone penetration and 197th of 214 by mobile penetration.
